Hapuakohe Southern Walkway.
Ohinewai Road to Mangapiko Valley Road – 6 hr
Distance: 9.7 km
A good walk that gives exceptional views of the Waikato and Hauraki areas.
You'll need to be dropped off as there is no space for parking on the roadside.
You'll need to arrange transport from the road end. There is limited room for parking at the end of Mangapiko Valley Road, in the paddock. Close the gate after you go through it.

Waiterimu Golf Club.
Waiterimu is a 9 hole golf course nestled in rural Waikato and is beautifully presented by its team of volunteer members.
Boasting the cheapest green fees ($10) and full membership ($170) in the Waikato, Waiterimu is playable throughout the year.

Hakarimata Summit Track.
Climb to the summit of Hakarimata (374 m) and enjoy good views for the summit tower out towards the coast, across the Waikato Basin and down to Ruapehu.
2 km return via same track

Pukemokemoke Bush Reserve.
The 40ha Pukemokemoke reserve, just 20 minutes north of Hamilton includes nine sites of interest, which are marked along the track; these include a log hauler site, the kauri grove, the lookout and the stopover pa.

Kauri Loop Track.
This well formed track offers spectacular views, beautiful bush and one of the largest kauri trees in the Waikato. We have done it with our local school (kids aged 5-7).
