Matahuru Valley Walk

While you are relaxing at Tui Ridge why not experience our farm.

You will have no rush, have another coffee and read a chapter of your book before you head off. This walk starts at Tui Ridge Homestay and winds up around QE2 blocks, fancy seeing an old flying fox that kids used to enjoy back in the day, beautiful farm tracks taking in the gorgeous rolling farmland, farm animals and some native bush which are all alive with birdsong.

After a decent climb you will arrive at the Hapuakohe Walkway which is part of Department of Conservation walkway. Here you will see Maungakawa VHF Radio Station which is 535m above sea level. Enjoy fabulous views of the Hauraki Gulf and even spot a few trees that look rather one sided as it can be rather windy up there.

After you’ve got your breath back you will make your way back down on private farmland. Stop for another sightseeing point where we have a lovely lookout tower with views of Auckland, Hamilton, Huntly Power Station, Mt Pirongia to name a few.

Your walk will end coming back through native bush and along the picturesque Matahuru Road arriving back to Tui Ridge Homestay.

Please note this walk is not suitable for young children.

Please note only available to be booked from:
